This structure is great for people who like to stick extra stuff into their journals. It is a hard cover variation of a long stitch. The spine is wider than normal to accommodate extra growth in the text block without bulging like many store bought journals do. This book also lays totally flat so that it is comfortable to write on both sides of the pages. Students will choose from a variety of book clothes, end sheets, interior papers and threads. We will create our covers, fold the signatures, and sew a book.
Students will leave with materials to make another book at home. I think it’s important to send students home ready to go onto their next book because materials prep is one of the hardest hurdles in bookbinding.
