In this class we will bind a supported French Link Stitch structure with cloth wrapped hard covers. An exposed spine shows off the decorative sewing of this bookbinding structure. Traditionally books are sewn onto linen tapes, but we will be sewing onto paper, ribbon, or cloth. Hardcovers are wrapped in book cloth. This structure lays flat when open for comfortable writing on both sides of the page.
Students will leave with materials to make another book at home. I think it’s important to send students home ready to go onto their next book because materials prep is one of the hardest hurdles in bookbinding.
Max class size 4.
